With the present launch of Respect, the biopic depicting the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, there’s by no means been a greater time to salute Black feminine music icons. This season’s fall fashions lend themselves completely to the spirit of those goddesses that we like. Beginning with the white sheath gown harking back to Aretha’s ethereal late-sixties look, adopted by the edgy, but elegant and flowy model of Alicia Keys. We love Tina Turner’s attractive mid-eighties comeback look and salute Beyoncé in a Single Girls-era impressed gown. Rounding out the group is the Diva herself, Diana Ross in a stunning fitted robe indicative of her model. Lastly, we pay homage to animal prints within the fierce manner that solely Rihanna may.
